Alleged Child Luring Actually a Prank: Cops

Police say what they originally believed was a child luring in Warminster was instead a prank gone wrong.

What police originally believed was a child luring in Warminster was instead a prank gone wrong, according to investigators.

On Saturday, shortly before 5 p.m., police responded to the 700 block of Meadow Drive for a report of an attempted child luring. A young boy told police he was standing in his yard earlier that day between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. when he saw a van drive down the roadway. The driver of the vehicle allegedly asked the boy if he wanted candy before driving off in an unknown direction.

After an investigation, police say they located the van, the driver and the passenger. After interviewing the two men, police determined the incident was a prank and the men had no intention of harming the child. Police say Paul Smith, 19, of Southampton, will be cited for disorderly conduct, a summary offense. They also say a citation will be filed. At this point, police believe it was an isolated incident.
