Adopt an Animal for Free This Weekend

In the midst of two high profile hoarding cases within the past week, the Pennsylvania SPCA is giving you the chance to lend a helping hand.

The PSPCA is offering fee-waived adoptions this weekend at two different adoption centers in order to deal with overcrowded shelters.

The normal adoption fee for cats is $30 while the fee for dogs is normally $50.

You can adopt an animal for free at the Pennsylvania SPCA on 350 E. Erie Avenue or the ACCT Shelter on 111 W. Hunting Park Avenue. Both centers are open until 8 p.m. on Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

"We have kittens as young as 8 to 10 weeks and we have dogs up to 15 to 16-years old," said Angela Messer of the PSPCA.

The PSPCA says that they brought in 100 cats who rescued during two hoarding cases last Thursday and Tuesday. All of them will be available for adoption.
