Accident Injures 3 Philly Officers

3 Philadelphia Police officers were injured in a car crash on Wednesday

Three Philadelphia Police officers were rushed to the hospital Wednesday afternoon following a car accident at the intersection of 18th and Windrim Streets in the city’s Logan section.

Police say the officers -- two males and a female  -- were undercover and in an unmarked car when a vehicle coming the other direction struck them around 2:36 p.m.

All three officers were taken to local hospitals with injuries. One of them was released on Wednesday. The female officer is in stable condition and is expected to be released. The third -- identified as officer Ray Hein -- remains in critical condition at Albert Einstein Medical Center with head trauma and a broken leg.

Investigators tell NBC Philadelphia the driver of the vehicle that struck the officers was taken into custody, but no charges have been filed.
