Absecon Police Search for Cop Impersonator

Police say the suspect allegedly posed as a police officer and searched a woman's car

The Absecon Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man that posed as a police officer and conducted a motor vehicle stop earlier this week.

Police say it happened on Absecon Boulevard and Turner Avenue on Monday around 10:45 p.m. The alleged victim, a 24-year-old woman, told police she was heading home when a man wearing a uniform stopped her vehicle.

The woman told police that the suspect said he was working a detail in the area and requested to search her car. Police say the alleged victim, not realizing the suspect was posing as a police officer, allowed the man to search her car. Investigators the suspect then left the area.

The suspect is described at 6-foot-tall with a skinny build. Police say he has blonde hair, brown eyes and is clean shaven. He was wearing a navy blue shirt that appeared to be a police officer’s uniform shirt, according to investigators. The woman told police that the suspect was driving a car with a dash board emergency light. There were no other details released about the car.
