Child Abandoned at Gas Station

A customer heard the girl crying inside the bathroom

Newark police are trying to determine the identity of a little girl who was left inside men’s restroom at a gas station Sunday.

The little girl who police said appears to be 2-year-old was discovered around 2:45p.m.at the Shell gas station at 804 College Avenue.

A customer intending to use the bathroom heard the little girl crying from inside. When he entered the bathroom he found her alone. Police  do not know how long the girl was in the bathroom. Security cameras outside of the gas station were not working at the time.

The child appears to be in good health and good condition, according to police.

The girl's hair is pulled on top of her head. She is wearing a tan puffy winter coat over a size 3T purple shirt with small flower prints on it. She is also wearing blue jeans with a pink and white design stitched on the left pant leg. She has on pink, white and purple sneakers.

Her ears are pierced but she is not wearing any earrings.

The little girl is now in the custody of Delaware's Division of Family Services.
