A.C. Mayor Seeks Delay in Tourism District Process

Atlantic City Mayor Lorenzo Langford scheduled a news conference for Thursday to address the concerns of residents before allowing Governor Chris Christie and the Legislature to go through with the proposed state-run tourism district.

Just last week the mayor was given more power over the resort by lawmakers.

The state-administered tourism district includes all 11 casinos and the boardwalk, leaving the state authority over police, cleanliness, traffic, and development in the casino zone.

Although Atlantic City will control planning and zoning in the district, Langford says he didn't get everything he wanted.
