911 Tapes: Chae Murder

Moments after breaking loose from his bindings, Robert Chae's son dialed 911 for help.

"Three armed gunman came in and took the money and I think my dad's been shot. I'm in my room right now," the man told the operator.

He, his sister and mother had been tied up in the early morning hours of Jan. 9, 2009, during a brutal home invasion.

His father, hadn't been shot, but rather beaten, stabbed, tortured and bound in the garage of the family's North Wales, Pa. home.

Robert Chae and his wife were leaving the garage of their home just after 5 a.m. when the three-armed men attacked the couple.

While two of the attackers beat and duck taped the 56-year-old man, the third man forced Janice Chae to open a safe containing tens of thousands in cash and jewelry, prosecutors say.

They then tied up the woman and her children in the basement as Robert Chae was left to suffocate by his bindings in the garage.

Tapes from the son's 911 call were played for the court Monday, after Chae's daughter testified about the terrifying invasion.

The emotional testimony didn't seem to faze the men accused of murder -- Joseph Page, 23, Amatadi Latham, 26, and 19-year-old Karre Pitts all of Philadelphia. The three smiled as they were led out of the Montgomery County courthouse.

A fourth man, Angelo Shin, has already pled guilty to third-degree murder. Shin, 25, is Chae's nephew and the alleged mastermind of the plot.
