8-Year-Old Philly Sports Fan Dies from Brain Cancer

After a nine-month battle with brain cancer, one of Philly's biggest sports fans, 8-year-old Dominic Liples, has passed away.

The Liples family fought and prayed for nine months after doctors found a grade 4 malignant tumor in his brain in March.

“Dominic was very sweet and loving,” said Dominic’s mother, Kira Liples. “He loved to do legos, he loved minions… He loved music. On our long drives to the hospital, he didn’t care about watching something, he wanted to listen to his music.”

After radiation, chemotherapy, surgery and immunotherapy, the Liples learned the tumor had spread to the other side of his brain. Dominic passed away in his parent’s arms in the early morning of December 7.

In memory of Dominic, his family will have a celebration of his life on December 11 at 6 p.m. at Central Bucks West High School. All are welcome to join in on the celebration and are encouraged to wear their favorite Philadelphia sports team jersey.

The Liples said they are “overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support” and admit Dominic would be ecstatic with the 20,000+ likes on the ‘Pray for Dominic’ Facebook page.
