It may not be the whopping half-a-billion record Powerball jackpot, but there are some people from the Philadelphia area who hit it big. NBC10's Claudia Rivero talked to the manager of a Montgomery County Sunoco, that sold a winning ticket.
While no one in our area claimed the top $587.5-million Powerball jackpot, there were several lucky ticket holders who matched five numbers to win $1 million.
One of those tickets was purchased by a regular lottery player at the Sunoco, located at 330 East Lancaster Avenue in Wynnewood, Montgomery County.
NBC10's Claudia Rivero spoke with the store manager, who says he got a visit Thursday morning from the lucky ticket holder just minutes after lottery officials called to let him know his store sold the million-dollar ticket.
"This guy walks in and he's pointing at me like that," said manager Khuriem Aijaz. "I said 'How do you know? I didn't tell anybody.' He says 'I got the ticket, that's why I know.'"
The man purchased the ticket as part of an office pool of 10, according to the store manager.
Each store that sold a million-dollar ticket gets $5,000, including the Wynnewood Sunoco.
There were two other locations in our area, that sold tickets worth $1 million:
Bally’s Park Place, Park Place & Boardwalk, Gift Shop, Atlantic City, Atlantic County, N.J.
Fleet Petroleum 313682, 1505 River Ave., Lakewood, Ocean County, N.J.
And here's a look at some other lucky locations in Pa. and NJ that also sold tickets worth $1 million:
