8 Kids Hurt After Driver Runs Stop Sign: Police

Eight children were hurt after police say a teen driver ran a stop sign in Egg Harbor Township.

A 17-year-old boy was driving a 2010 Acura TSX west on Zion Road shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Monday. At the same time, a 17-year-old girl was driving a Chevy Trailblazer south on Larch Avenue.

As she turned left onto Zion Road, the girl allegedly failed to yield at the stop sign and collided with the Acura.

Police say eight children were hurt in the crash. All of the victims were taken to local hospitals and are being treated for moderate injuries.

Traffic was detoured at the scene of the crash for about an hour.

Police continue to investigate the accident. No charges have been filed.
