An elderly woman in Allentown was shot in the foot by “a descending bullet” just after midnight New Year’s Day, police say.
Authorities believe the 77-year-old Whitehall Township woman was wounded in the left foot by a stray bullet that was shot in celebration of the new year, reports the Morning Call.
Police say that the woman, who remains unnamed, was hit on the 100 block of North 9th Street, reports the Morning Call. She walked up to officers at 9th and Hamilton streets at about 12:04 a.m. and told them she was injured.
The woman was treated and released from an area hospital, reports the Morning Call.
