6th Case of Whooping Cough at Pa. School District

Parents were told Wednesday that their child may have been exposed

A student from Great Valley Middle School is the latest case of pertussis, better known as "whooping cough."

This is the sixth case confirmed in the Great Valley School District, according to the Malvern Patch.

After multiple outbreaks at the school district, the school was considered an "outbreak site" and teachers are now required to get vaccinated, as well as students, according to the Patch article.

Superintendent Alan Lonoconus continues to keep parents informed and emailed them on Wednesday to let them know about the latest case.

He informed parents their child may have been exposed between February 6 --17th.

Pertussis causes severe coughing, trouble breathing, vomiting, and turning blue.
