6 in Custody After West Oak Lane Shootings

Police say the suspects were found with a semi-automatic handgun

Six people are in police custody after multiple people were shot on the 6700 block of North Smedley Street in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia.

Police say the shootings happened late Tuesday night, just before midnight.

Two young men were shot. Investigators say the first victim is 16 years old and he was shot in the chest. The second victim is 23 years old and he was shot in the thigh and foot. Both are in stable condition.

A third man arrived at the hospital around the same time, suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police. However, they say he's not cooperating so they aren't sure if he is involved with the same shooting.

Investigators say the six people in custody were found with a semi-automatic handgun. Four of those suspects are juveniles.

"These individuals were shooting wildly, hitting parked vehicles, hitting individuals on the highway and one was just a teenager 16 years of age," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.
