6-Year Old's Death “Suspicious”

Philadelphia Police hope to learn much more about a little boy's death with autopsy results, which could come as early as Thursday.

The 6-year old died Wednesday at his home in Southwest Philadelphia. His parents kept him home from school that day because he didn't feel well the night before, investigators said.

The family called 9-1-1 around 1 p.m. when the little boy's dad could not wake him up. Blood covered the child's face, mouth and the sheet he'd been sleeping on. There were no visible signs of abuse, according to investigators and the blood on the sheet was consistent with a nosebleed.

The boy was rushed to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where he was pronounced dead.

"It's sad, cause he was only six," on neighbor said.

The little boy's family moved into the area last month.

"It's terrible when any child dies and you don't know what's wrong with them," another neighbor commented.

Until they know more, investigators from the Homicide and Special Victims units are treating the boy's death as suspicious because of his age and because they don't have any prior medical history.
