$5M Tower Ride to Adorn Riverfront

The owners of Camden's Adventure Aquarium are planning to build a $5 million, 300-foot tall tower ride to give patrons a bird's-eye view of Philadelphia.

Herschend Family Entertainment announced the plan Thursday and said hope to open the tower in the spring of 2015.

Aquarium director Kevin Keppel says observation towers are huge hits in other tourist destinations.

The tower is to be illuminated at night and will be about as high as the nearby Ben Franklin Bridge, but shorter than Camden's City Hall.
