5-Year-Old Boy Struck by Minivan

A young boy is in the hospital after police say he was struck by a vehicle in the Germantown section of the city.

Police say the 5-year-old boy was on the 6200 block of Chew Avenue at 6:24 p.m. when he was struck by a minivan. Police say the driver of the minivan stayed at the scene.

The boy was taken to Albert Einstein Hospital where he is currently in stable condition.

The incident marked the third accident involving a child Saturday in Philadelphia.

A 5-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle that allegedly fled the scene in the Cobbs Creek section of the city. A 9-year-old girl was also struck by a vehicle in South Philadelphia around 8 p.m. Police say the driver dropped her and her mother off at the hospital and then fled the scene.

Both children in the alleged hit-and-run incidents are currently in critical condition.
