Residents, Firefighters Injured in East Norriton House Fire

Fire officials say that three residents were injured when they jumped out of a window.

    Below-freezing temperatures froze hose lines and an entire roadway, after a fire broke out on the 3000 block of Whitehall Road in Montgomery County. 2 fire fighters were injured during the blaze. NBC10's Jesse Gary reports.

    Five people suffered injuries in a house fire in East Norriton overnight.

    The fire broke out around 1 Wednesday morning on the 3000 block of Whitehall Road, according to fire officials.

    Three residents were injured while jumping out of a second story window trying to escape, officals on the scene tell NBC10.

    Four others were able to make their way out of the home safely.

    Firefighters responded to a Montgomery County fire early Wednesday morning. The flames burned down the two-story home and left five people homeless. NBC10's Jesse Gary reports.

    Two firefighters were hurt when they slipped on ice while trying to fight the fire, according to officals .

    All of the injured were taken to Einstein Montgomery. The residents are expected to make full recoveries. The firefighters have been treated and released. 

    The fire chief also told NBC10 that firefighters were having trouble battling the blaze because temperatures were so low, freezing the hoses and icing ladders.

    Whitehall Road is closed between Woodland and Township Line Road. Gulph Road is also closed due to ice from the water and demolition of the house.
