40 Sickened at NJ Packing Plant

Forty people were sickened and four hospitalized while packaging grapes at a New Jersey produce packaging plant Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Police say that employees at the packaging plant on the 900 block of 11th Street in Hammonton began complaining of sore throats, upset stomachs and dizziness just before 1 p.m.

The building where they were packaging grapes was evacuated.

Forty people are being evaluated for their symptoms and four have been taken to a nearby hospital.

No carbon monoxide was detected. Hazmat crews are investigating the building.
