A young girl is dead after a hit-and-run accident in Reading.
It happened around 7 p.m. on the 1000 block of Cotton Street. Police say 3-year-old Ja'lexy Bobet was struck by a bronze or orange Dodge pickup truck which fled the scene east on Cotton Street.
"She was with her cousin," said Bobet's aunt Tina Acevedo. "They were going to the store to get a little bit of candy. When they came out they went to cross the street. They just flew up this street and they just hit her and they kept on going. It's like they had no remorse about hitting anything. To them it was like hitting an animal. They didn't care."
Bobet was taken to Reading Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police are currently searching for a hit-and-run vehicle but have not released information on any suspects.
