4 Suspects in Custody in Connection to Robberies, Sex Assault: Cops

Police say four people are custody in connection to multiple robberies and a sexual assault in Philadelphia.

Police say four people are custody in connection to multiple robberies and a sexual assault in Philadelphia.  

Last Friday, at 1:45 a.m., police say a man was approached by three men on the 2900 block of South 70th Street. The suspects demanded money and one of the men, armed with a black revolver, struck the victim several times, causing lacerations to his head, according to police. The three suspects then allegedly stole the victim’s keys, cell phone and ID before fleeing in an unknown direction.
 
The first suspect in the incident is described as a thin, light skinned black male, standing at 6-foot-1 with a beard. He was caught on surveillance video wearing a gray and black baseball hat, black cargo shorts and armed with a black revolver. The second suspect is described as a light skinned black male wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans. Finally, the third suspect is described as a black male wearing a short sleeve shirt and shorts. 
 
Police say the second robbery happened 15 minutes later on the 6900 block of Buist Avenue. Four men, one armed with a handgun, approached a male victim and demanded money, according to investigators. Police say the victim told them he had none and tried to run away. The four men allegedly chased him down and struck him several times with the handgun, causing a laceration to his face. Police say the suspects then fled the area in a black Chevy Impala with tinted windows west on Buist Avenue.

The second suspect is described as a light skinned black male standing at 6-foot-3. The third suspect is described as a black male wearing shorts and a t-shirt. The fourth suspect is described as a black male wearing shorts and a t-shirt. 
 
On Saturday, at 3:35 a.m., police say a man and a woman were walking home from the 7-11 on 70th Street and Grovers Avenue. While they were walking in the ball field next to Finnegan Playground, police say they were approached by a man with a handgun. The suspect allegedly struck both victims in the head with the gun and stole a wallet from one of the victims. Police say the suspect then sexually assaulted the female victim and fled in an unknown direction.
 
The suspect is described as a thin, light skinned black male standing between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-9 with a tattoo on his left arm. He was last seen wearing a black ski mask, white T-shirt, black cargo shorts and red “Chuck Taylor” sneakers. 
 
On Wednesday, police say they spotted two men and a woman inside the car caught on surveillance video during the second robbery. As police began to follow the car, one of the suspects jumped out of the vehicle and began running, according to investigators. Police identified the suspect as the man with the beard connected to the first robbery. Police apprehended the man who is now in custody. Police followed the car to a home located right across the street from the playground where the alleged rape happened, according to investigators. Police entered the home and arrested another suspect who they say was not caught on surveillance video.  They also took that suspect’s sister into custody though they don't believe she is connected to any of the crimes. 
 
On Thursday, shortly after midnight, police told NBC10 two more suspects were taken into custody. Police also said there may be one more suspect connected to the crimes though they have not yet confirmed this.
