3 Teens Among Accused in Couple's Murder

Muriah Huff and Michael Hawkins were tortured and killed

Muriah Huff and her boyfriend, Michael Hawkins were tortured for hours and killed inside a Camden home last month.

"This was evil," Camden Police Chief Scott Thomson told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "It's impossible for any sane person to wrap their mind around what took place in that house."

The motive may have been retaliation for a gang-related shooting-- a dispute between the Crips and the Bloods, sources told the Inky.

Three teens, including a 14-year old girl, are now charged in the case and police are looking for more.

Huff, 18, and Michael Hawkins, 23, were assaulted for hours inside the rowhome on the 500 block of Berkley Street in Camden on Feb. 22, according to police.

Hawkins, an alleged Crips gang member, was bound, gagged and beaten so badly nearly every bone in his face was broken. He was shot multiple times and stabbed.

Huff, from Cinnaminson, was beaten and strangled.

Both bodies were buried in the yard. Investigators got a tip and dug them up two days later.

Dennis Welch, 19, lives in that home, according to police, although neighbors described it more as a hangout for teenagers.

Welch is charged in connection with Hawkins' murder and accused of trying to cover up the killings. The walls of the home were scrubbed, the blood-stained carpet ripped up and the victims' clothes were disposed of.

The youngest person accused is a 14-year-old girl, arrested in Camden and charged in connection with Huff's murder.

Two teens and one adult are charged in connection with both murders:
17-year-old man from Pennsauken
17 year old man from New York
19 year-old Darrel Pierre from Merchantville

And two other adults are charged in connection with Hawkins' murder:
19-year-old Dennis Welch of Camden
19-year-old Lance Fulton, Camden

Prosecutors and police now think at least eight people were involved in the murders.
