It was a violent Saturday afternoon in Chester after three people were injured in two separate shootings.
In what neighbors describe as an alleged dispute over someone’s girlfriend, two young men were injured by gunfire. It happened around 2 p.m. along the 100 block of Culhane Street. Police say a 17-year-old suffered gunshot wounds to his right side, hand and buttock. The second victim, a 22-year-old, was taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center. Both victims are listed in stable condition.
Less than an hour later in an unrelated incident near 400 Rose Street, a 13-year-old was shot and wounded, police say.
It happened around 2:37 p.m. when the teen was coming out of a house to help his grandfather wash cars when he was grazed under his left armpit by gunfire. He was treated and released, according to police.
Chester Mayor John Linder says the city has stepped up police patrols.
"At this point we're gonna intensify as much as we can and for as long as we have to, to get our city safe and under control again."
Police are talking to witnesses from both the shootings. So far no one has been arrested.
