3 Men Wanted in Philly Store Owner's Death

Police are searching for three men responsible for the shooting death of a North Philadelphia corner-store owner.

The botched robbery happened Saturday night at Los Ingenitos grocery store at 2400 North 9th Street. Police say the owner, 59-year-old Felix Rodriguez, was shot six times in the face, neck, chest and groin.

Rodriguez - a husband, father and grandfather- was awaiting the birth of his second grandchild. Family members begged Rodriguez to close the store as they had been robbed before.

“Suddenly three guys got into the store, his employee was in the back sweeping and cleaning the store…he got pointed with a gun and then heard shots,” said Jose Rodriguez, his brother-in-law.

Police are not releasing surveillance images of the crime but say the three men fled on foot without any money.

Detectives were at the store Sunday looking for any shred of evidence. Police believe there may have been two guns used.

Rodriguez’ wife had just left the store a few minutes before the shooting. She was going home to prepare dinner to celebrate Father’s Day.
