3 Hurt by Falling Glass at New Jersey Mall

Two boys and a man escaped serious injury when glass from a balcony barrier at a northern New Jersey mall fell about 30 feet and shattered on the floor below.

Paramus police tell The Record that it's not clear what caused the accident, which occurred around 3:20 p.m. Saturday at The Outlets at Bergen Town Center.

The two boys went to a hospital for evaluation, while the 67-year-old man declined treatment at the scene. The ages and names of the juveniles were not disclosed.

The glass pane that fell supports a metal banister that provides a safety rail for a balcony inside the mall. A metal stanchion was found near the balcony railing, and authorities say it's possible someone knocked it over and caused the glass to break.

Mall officials didn't respond to requests for comment.
