3 Found Dead in Kensington Fire, Shooting

Two men and a woman were found dead inside a home after firefighters responded to a house fire in Kensington.

Authorities said a man barricaded himself inside a house along the 3300 block of Rand Street around 12 p.m. as flames raced through the second floor of the home.

Firefighters tried to enter the property but had to run for cover when one of the men opened gunfire, according to police.

When police entered the home they found one man dead at the bottom of a staircase from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Police say a second man who was at the top of the steps fired at police. Officers returned fire and then backed out the home. Investigators are trying to determine if he died from the fire or gunshot wounds.

A woman was also found dead inside the home. An autopsy will be performed Monday to determine the cause of death.

The house became fully engulfed in fire and the 2nd floor of the home collapsed.

The incident remains under investigation.
