3 Defendants Indicted in Cab Driver Attack

Prosecutors say the cab driver's throat was slashed and he was robbed during the January 30 attack

Three people were indicted on attempted murder and other charges by a Burlington County Grand Jury for the violent attack and robbery of a South Jersey cab driver.

Breanna Pimienta, 18, and Miguel Mercado, 23, both of Cherry Hill, Mahadi Robinson, 21, of Maple Shade, are accused of attacking the cab driver on January 30 on Forrest court in Mount Laurel.
The charges in the indictment include attempted murder, robbery, conspiracy, carjacking, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and using a juvenile to commit a criminal offense.

A fourth defendant, Giovanni Nieves, 18, of Cherry Hill was a juvenile at the time of the attack. He has pled guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery.

Joseph Dominguez, 20, was employed by Five Star Cab Service when he was sent to pick up four passengers around 3 a.m. at a Cherry Hill pharmacy and take them to Forrest Court in Mount Laurel.

After arriving at the destination, Dominguez was put in a choke hold, his throat cut and he was robbed, according to Camden County prosecutors.

One of the accused attackers then jumped behind the wheel of the taxi, drove it a short distance and crashed the cab into a tree in front of a nearby home, officials said.

Dominguez managed to stumble to a nearby home to get help.

The attackers made off with about $40 in the robbery, according to authorities.

An arraignment will be held soon in Superior Court. No date has been released.
