2 Women Shot on South Philly Sidewalk

One of the women hit was walking with her two infants at the time of the shooting

Gunfire erupted on a South Philly sidewalk leaving two innocent bystanders shot.

A man was standing on the corner of 20th and Mercy Streets when he opened fire on a group of men standing in front of a grocery store at Snyder Avenue around 4:20 p.m. Monday, police said.

Two women were caught in the crossfire and hit, police said. A 24-year-old was grazed in the head as she walked out of the store and into a bullet's path.

A 27-year-old mother was also hit in the arm as she walked with her two infant children. She was holding one of the children at the time, police said. Fortunately, the children were unharmed.

Both women were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for treatment.

The shooter is still on the loose, police said.
