2 Teens Dead, 2 Injured in Chester County Crash

Fifteen-year-old passenger who died was the only one wearing a seat belt, police say.

State police say two teenagers were killed and two others injured in a one-car crash in suburban Philadelphia.

A 16-year-old and three 15-year-olds were heading west on Beaver Dam Road in Honeybrook Township at high speed when their car ran off the road shortly after 3 a.m. Friday and hit a tree and a utility pole, according to authorities.

Montgomery Wood, 16, who was driving the car, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Chester County coroner's office, reports the Reading Eagle.

Fifteen-year-old Brittany Leger was taken to Brandywine Hospital, where she was also pronounced dead.

A youth said to have been severely injured and another whose injuries were called serious were taken to Reading Hospital. Police did not release their names.

Police say that Wood and the two unnamed passenger were not wearing seat belts but Leger, the passenger who died, was wearing a seatbelt.

All four teens were students of Twin Valley School District. Superintendent Robert F. Pleis posted a message on the school district web site saying, “The Twin Valley School District Community is greatly saddened by the tragic accident that killed 2 of our students and injured 2 others on Friday morning.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time. “

There will be counselors available for students in need of support on Monday, the statement says.
