Gun Found at School, 2 Students Charged

A Pittsburgh-area charter school canceled classes a day after police arrested two students there with guns.

Allegheny County police were called Monday after officials at Propel High School in Braddock Hills reported a student with a gun.

Police found that 17-year-old student in the parking lot about 2:20 p.m. They learned the boy brought two guns to school and offered to sell one to 18-year-old Shaquir Gilmore, of Rankin. Police said Gilmore refused, but agreed to hold one of the guns in his backpack for some reason.

Gilmore is charged with carrying an unlicensed firearm and possessing a weapon on school property. The other student wasn't named because of his age and faces unspecified charges in juvenile court.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Gilmore, who faces a preliminary hearing Feb. 4.
