2 Men in Critical After Mantua Drive-By

Police say the 80-year-old man and the 69-year-old man were innocent bystanders.

Two people are in critical condition after a double shooting in the Mantua section of Philadelphia.

It happened Friday around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of 41st and Parish.

According to a witness, two cars were possibly involved in a drive-by shooting. Investigators say it's unclear if the cars were shooting at each other.

Police say an 80-year-old man was shot in the head. They also say a 69-year-old man riding about a half a block away in a motorized scooter was shot multiple times on the left side of his body. Police believe both victims were innocent bystanders.

Both men were taken to the Hospital at Penn. Investigators say the 80-year-old man is in extremely critical condition while the 69-year-old is critical but stable.

"We know that there was at least one semi-automatic handgun used because of the ballistic evidence on the scene," said Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small. "We have at least eight fired cartridge casings."

No word yet on any suspects.
