2 Injured in A.C. Boardwalk Shooting

It was a violent end to the long holiday weekend in Atlantic City.

As Atlantic City Police were responding to reports of a fight on the boardwalk near Bally’s Casino just after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, officers heard gunshots on nearby Michigan Avenue. The shooting, which occurred at the bottom of the ramp at Michigan Ave and the boardwalk, left two injured.

The unidentified victims, who were 17-year-old and 22-year-old males, were shot in the leg and chest. Neither are believed to have life threatening injuries. The male suspect fled on foot, but police found a handgun at Bally’s bus terminal.

Police describe the suspect as a black male wearing a dark-colored v-neck short sleeved shirt, khaki shorts and dark shoes.

Just before the shooting, police responded to reports of a fight in the same area early Tuesday. A crowd of about 100 people gathered in the area as approximately 15 people were fighting on Michigan Ave, police say.  K9 units were brought in to assist with crowd control.

As the investigation continues, police ask anyone with information to contact crime stoppers at 609-652-1234.
