2 Children Left Alone in Car Outside Police Building

A man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly left two toddlers by themselves inside a car that was parked outside a police building.

On Monday at 1:12 p.m., police were alerted to a vehicle containing two unattended children that was parked on the rear lot of the Cherry Hill Police Administration Building. Responding officers found the vehicle and two children, ages 3 and 1, inside. The passenger window of the vehicle was lowered, according to investigators.

Police say they later located the driver who they identified as 30-year-old Dwayne Kemp of Philadelphia. Kemp told police he had been inside the building at the Violations Bureau while the two children were in the car, according to investigators. He was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of children. He was later released on a summons.

Police have not yet revealed Kemp’s relationship to the two children.
