2 Boys Rescued After Falling Into Delaware River

Two young boys are recovering but alive after a river rescue in the Tacony section of the city.

Investigators say the 10-year-old and 11-year-old boys were underneath the Tacony Bridge on the 6400 block of New State Road around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday. Suddenly, the 10-year-old boy slipped and fell into the Delaware River.

Police say the 11-year-old boy jumped in to help him but was unable to get him out. Both boys held onto a wall as police and port authority officers responded to the scene.

The officers dropped life preservers into the river and pulled them out. The children were checked out by medics at the scene and are expected to be okay.
