2 Arrested in Philly for NJ Crime Spree

A 15 and 19-year-old were arrested on charges of stabbing a woman, carjacking another, and attacking a third

Police arrested a 15-year-old and 19-year-old Thursday for allegedly committing a violent crime spree in three South Jersey towns in only a few hours.

An unnamed juvenile and  19-year-old Tyreek Thomas of the 2600 block of West Silver Street in Philadelphia were arrested in connection with the shooting  of one woman, the carjacking of another, and the harassment of a third that happened within hours of one another, police say.

Both were arrested in Philadelphia, according to Cherry Hill Police.

Though police at first thought it was a stabbing, Thomas and the 15-year-old boy allegedly shot a 49-year-old woman near the PATCO station in Cherry Hill Sunday night, police say. The two teens were caught on surveillance camera following the woman from the train station’s parking lot.

Not long after the shooting, the two teens held a woman at gunpoint before stealing a car in Lawnside, N.J., police say.

After the carjacking in Lawnside, the suspects drove the stolen car to Mount Ephraim and boxed an elderly lady into a dead-end street, forcing the woman to throw cash out of her window before they fled, police say.

The charges against Thomas and the juvenile include conspiracy to commit homicide and robbery, possession of a weapon, aggravated assault, and theft.
