Two Newark men have admitted their roles in a scheme to smuggle marijuana and cellphones into the Essex County Jail.
Darsell Davis, 29, pleaded guilty Monday to conspiring to commit extortion and Dwayne Harper, 30, pleaded guilty to conspiring to smuggle contraband into the jail.
Prosecutors say the men aided jail guard Stephen Solomon, who passed the contraband on to an inmate.
Solomon pleaded guilty earlier this month.
