Atlantic City Police are investigating two armed robberies of pizza deliverymen that they claim occurred within ten minutes of each other.

On Sunday, police say a 20-year-old deliveryman for Papa John's was approached by a suspect on the 700 block of North Maryland Avenue around 7 p.m. The suspect allegedly grabbed the food from the deliveryman’s hands. Police say three more suspects then began to attack the man, punching and kicking him before stealing money, a cell phone and keys. The suspects then fled on foot northbound on Maryland Avenue with $100 to $150 in stolen items, according to investigators.

The deliveryman suffered minor injuries but refused medical treatment. The suspects are described as six black males in their late teens and early twenties, all dressed in dark clothing.

Police say the second robbery occurred at 7:34 p.m. on the 1400 block of Magellan Avenue. A 53-year-old deliveryman at Papa John's was approached by a suspect who claimed he had the money to pay for the food. When the driver got out of his van, police say he was approached by two more suspects who came from behind the van and wrestled the food from him. Police also say the driver was sprayed in the face with a chemical agent during the struggle.

The suspects allegedly fled on foot with money and food from the victim valued over $100. A fourth suspect was inside the victim’s deliver van but fled when the victim reentered the vehicle, according to police. Police say the driver did not require medical treatment and only suffered minor injuries.

Anyone with information on either of these incidents should call the Atlantic City Police Department at 609-347-5766.
