$1M Bail Set in Hatchet Murder

Nineteen-year-old James Miller of Camden faces murder charges. He's accused of using a hatchet to kill his stepfather

Bail has been set at $1 million for a southern New Jersey man accused of using a hatchet to kill his stepfather.

Nineteen-year-old James Miller of Camden faces murder charges in the March 29 slaying of 40-year-old Josue Rivera, who was killed inside his Camden home.

Prosecutors say the two men had been arguing when Miller's mother, the victim's wife, intervened. But the dispute soon resumed and Miller allegedly beat Rivera and hit him in the head with a hatchet, causing fatal blunt trauma injuries.

Miller soon fled the home, but was captured April 6 in north Philadelphia. It was not known Sunday if he has retained a lawyer.

Authorities have not disclosed what the two men were arguing about.
