Two New Jersey towns want to switch electric providers and 14 others are considering it after long outages caused by Hurricane Irene and an October snowstorm.
All the communities are interested in dumping Jersey Central Power & Light, a subsidiary of Akron, Ohio-based FirstEnergy.
Company spokesman Ron Morano tells The Star Ledger of Newark the company will not speak on the individual towns, but JCP&L wants to hear and resolve customer's concerns.
So far, Warren Township and Robbinsville have petitioned the state Board of Public Utilities to be covered by Public Service Electric & Gas instead.
Some officials say PSE&G did a better job of restoring power after the storms knocked it out.
