1 Killed in NJ Turnpike Accident

State police say the driver of a car that crashed into the back of a tractor trailer was killed Tuesday evening

One person was killed on the NJ Turnpike in Chesterfield, Burlington County around 5:30 p.m Tuesday night, according to NJ State Police.

The accident happened near mile marker 55.4.

Police say the driver of a red Toyota Camry, identified as 54-year-old Mario Francois of Burlington Township, was killed when his car hit the back of a tractor trailer.

Authorities say the driver of the tractor trailer pulled off into the emergency lane to deal with a tire problem, and by the time he did that, the car slammed into the back of the truck.

There were no other injuries.
