1 Killed, 1 Injured After Car Lands in Creek

Police are investigating what caused the accident

One person was found dead inside a car that had flipped over in a creek early Sunday.

Police were called to the scene on the 200 block of Paper Mill Road in Douglass Township just before 11:00 a.m.

A father who was heading to the creek to fish with his son tells NBC10 he saw the car and immediately jumped in to help. "I tried to get in the one door, couldn't get in, and went around the other side, got in, as soon as we opened the door a hand came up out of the water and I helped this young man out of the car, struggled to get him onto the bank," said Chris Harwick.

Police and emergency workers arrived shortly after and rushed the young man to Lehigh Valley Hospital.

"The car was 3/4 filled with water, he was cold, he could barely speak," said Harwick, describing the young man he rescued.

Police say the driver died inside the car.

The bridge was closed for several hours while the accident was investigated.
