One person is dead after an accident involving several vehicles on Interstate 78 in Upper Saucon Township.

Police say it happened near mile marker 61 in the eastbound lanes of I-78. A 1998 Toyota Sienna traveling in the left lane was merging into the center lane. As it merged, police say the Sienna struck a 1998 Jeep Cherokee driving in the center lane. The impact caused the Cherokee to crash into a 2009 BMW 535i in the right lane. All three vehicles overturned. A passenger inside the Jeep Cherokee, identified as Celia Marrero, 52, of Milford, was killed in the crash. The three drivers were all injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.

I-78 was shut down at the exit for PA Route 309 for several hours. It reopened shortly after 11 p.m. on Sunday. The crash is still under investigation.
