A woman has been pronounced dead after a house fire in Washington Township early Saturday morning.

Authorities say that 56-year-old Darlene Starrett was pronounced dead at Kennedy Memorial Hospital after she was found in her house by firefighters.

Firefighters were called to 77 Golfview Drive shortly at around 12:45 a.m. The two-alarm blaze was brought under control half an hour later.

An autopsy on Starrett was scheduled to be conducted later Saturday by the Gloucester County Medical Examiner's office.

Investigators say that Starrett lived with her son, who was working at the time of the fire. The cause of the blaze is unknown at this time. An inspection by an electrical engineer is pending.
