One woman is dead and a man hospitalized after a car crashed into a tree on Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia.

It happened around 2 a.m. on Saturday.. Police say a 22-year-old man was driving a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville northbound on Roosevelt Boulevard at a high speed when he lost control of the vehicle at 5th Street and crashed into a tree. Both the driver and the passenger, 24-year-old Melissa Baker, were ejected from the vehicle.

The victims were taken to the Einstein Medical Center. Baker was pronounced dead at 2:29 a.m. The man was treated for a possible broken leg and is currently in stable condition.
