1 Dead, 5 Injured in Garden State Parkway Crash

An accident along the Garden State Parkway in Cape May County killed a mother and injured her young children Sunday, police say.

Thirty-seven-year-old Tonya Curtis, of Egg Harbor Township, and her three children -- ages 5, 8 and 14 -- were inside an SUV around 2:30 p.m. when their car struck a guard rail and overturned.

Curtis was pronounced dead at the scene. Her children were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police say 62-year-old James Curtis was driving the SUV at the time of the accident. He and his wife were both flown to Cooper Medical Center by helicopter.
