Man Accused of Threatening Neighbor With Samurai Sword After Dog Poop Dispute

A man is in custody after he allegedly threatened his neighbor with a samurai sword following a dispute over dog feces.

On Monday, police say they responded to the apartment of John Jandola, 25, in Brick Township, New Jersey, for a welfare check. When they arrived, they say they noticed a foul odor of urine and feces coming from his apartment.

Police say the feces and urine came from Jandola’s dog. They also say they spoke with Jandola who agreed to clean up his apartment.

The next day, police say Jandola’s neighbor, who made the initial call on Monday, called police again to report a threat. According to police, the neighbor knocked on Jandola’s front door because the odor was still present and the mess in his apartment had not been cleaned up. When Jandola opened the door, he allegedly held the sword to his neighbor’s throat. He then allegedly pushed the victim, causing minor abrasions.

Responding police officers arrested Jandola and charged him with Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats, and Simple Assault. Jandola’s bail was set at $30,000. Jandola’s samurai type sword was also recovered.
