Hunt for Groper in Lower Merion

Two women were groped near a convent on the Main Line

The search is on for a groper in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County.

The man attacked two women on Monday, according to Lower Merion Township Police.

Both attacks happened at or near the same convent.

The first incident happened at 9:55 a.m. near McCauley Convent at 517 Montgomery Avenue. Police say a woman, 26, was walking to work when a man grabbed her buttocks.

"I screamed and he spun me around and then as soon as he heard me scream he ran off down Haverford Avenue," the victim said. She asked not to be identified.

The victim said she realized something strange about her assailant right before the attack.

"He was jogging and smoking which seemed out of place," she said.

At 9:10 p.m. a 34-year-old woman told police she was pulled to the ground and groped as she walked in front of the same convent. 

Police believe the same man is responsible for the two attacks.

Both women told police the suspect was wearing black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and a black hat.
