Wrongly Accused Man Fears Vigilante Justice

A Philadelphia man fearing vigilantes had to call police for help after someone falsely posted his picture on flyers naming him as the suspect in a string of strangling deaths in Kensington.

Philadelphia police say someone distributed flyers bearing Triz Jefferies' name, address and photo in the neighborhood where three murders and at least three sexual assaults have residents on edge.

Jefferies has basically been cleared as a suspect, according to authorities.

The flyer found its way to Facebook, where it was posted on a group called "Catch the Kensington Strangler, before he catches someone you love."

The 24-year-old was trapped in his home Monday while residents patroled outside waiting to pounce. He called police and asked them to "get me out of my house," police told the Philadelphia Daily News.

Police say whoever distributed the flyers could face charges if caught.

Officials will hold a news conference Tuesday at 11 a.m. to discuss the the attacks.
