Hopefully, second time’s a charm for Southwest Philadelphia residents who woke up to a waterlogged neighborhood after a water main burst on 64th and Lindbergh Blvd.

The very same 30-inch water main was patched up after it burst on July 10 sending 60 million gallons of water flowing down the street. Perhaps this early morning break is the push the water company needs to replace it all together.

"I think this is crazy. The first time they didn't even pay for it, now it's happening again and for stuff is damaged," said resident Tasia Hawkins.

Homes were forced to be evacuated and many lost power and water.

The main was eventually shut off leaving basements are flooded with almost four feet of water. “The water is up to your knees,” said resident Denise Hawkins before the waters receded.

Residents then spent the afternoon sorting through ruined belongings and taking note of new damage. PWD reps also made their way through the affected homes, surveying the damage and providing claim forms.

"I can't take this anymore," said Vanda Pomante. She says the Philadelphia Water Department only offered her around $600 after the first flood in July. This time she's not hopeful for that much.
