What was supposed to be a friendly game on the basketball court between William Penn and Christiana High took a wrong turn.

The initial argument allegedly began when one student kissed the boyfriend of another student.

Two William Penn High School seniors are now under arrest for their part in a brawl that left a student with a gunshot wound and a Trooper was injured.

Investigators have arrested Siara Wynn, 18, of New Castle and Jasmine Holloway, 18, of Bear.

When the Trooper approached these two females, they repeatedly ignored the officer’s commands to stop fighting according to police.

The Trooper placed herself between these two subjects and they continued to fight.

Their reckless behavior and conduct ultimately led to the Trooper being injured.

Even after the Trooper was hurt, the two combatants continued to fight with total disregard for the officer.

The trooper then called for back-up.

Several minutes after help arrived, a single gunshot rang out.

An 18-year-old male student was struck by the gunfire.

Ms. Wynn and Ms. Holloway voluntarily turned themselves in to detectives earlier this evening and were formally charged with Assault 2nd on a Police Officer (felony), Resisting Arrest (felony) and Disorderly Conduct (misdemeanor).

Each student was issued a $7,500.00 unsecured bond and they were released.

The victim in the shooting is reportedly doing well and his injuries are not life threatening.

A motive has still not been established and the victim apparently did not know the shooter.

It has been confirmed the he was shot one time in his back.

His name will not be released per the Delaware State Police policy regarding victim identification.

He, however, is a junior at William Penn High School.

It should be noted that the shooting and the fight appear to be unrelated at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this shooting should call 302.834.2630 ext. 209.

Tips may also be forwarded to law enforcement through tip lines maintained by Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or on line at www.tipsubmit.com

The Trooper injured in the incident last night at William Penn is resting at home and is in a considerable amount of pain.
