Rutgers Student Dies of Asthma Attack After 21st Birthday

Police say student was out celebrating his 21st birthday the night before

Camden County authorities say acute asthma caused the death of a Rutgers-Camden student whose body was found in a dorm room last week.

Nicholas M. Levin of Audubon died Friday, one day after his 21st birthday. Upon interviewing friends and students, Police learned Levin was out celebrating his birthday the night before, but it is yet unknown how much alcohol he drank.

Officials say Levin was a junior who commuted to the school but was staying with friends in the dorm at 3rd and Cooper streets in Camden.

He was pronounced dead there just before 7 a.m. Friday, after university police responded to a 6:55 a.m. medical distress call.

Levin was a pre-med student who worked as a martial arts instructor and personal trainer, according to the Courier Post.
